Pooja Hegde‘s failure streak continues, as her latest film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, co-starring Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur, is turning out to be a major box office disappointment. The film has collected only around ₹50 Cr nett in India and is nearing the end of its theatrical run.
The Post-Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo Struggle
After the blockbuster success of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), Pooja went through a challenging phase at the box office. She starred in big-budget films such as Radhe Shyam with Prabhas, Beast with Vijay (not a failure but not a solid hit either), Acharya alongside Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, Cirkus with Ranveer Singh, and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan with Salman Khan.
Despite the massive star power involved, most of these films failed to meet expectations commercially. She later appeared in Deva opposite Shahid Kapoor, which was also a failure.
Regional Disappointments Add to Woes
She also starred in the Tamil film Retro, alongside Suriya, which was expected to bring her a lot of appreciation. But even that film failed to bring any success or praise for Pooja.
Over 5 years, Pooja Hegde has not had a solid success, and as mentioned, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai continues her failure streak. Similar to other actresses facing extended dry spells, the box office has not been kind to the actress despite her association with top-tier projects.
Upcoming Projects Offer Hope
The actress is now looking to reverse her fortunes with high-profile projects such as Jana Nayagan, Kanchana 4, and a film with Dulquer Salmaan. These upcoming films present crucial opportunities for Pooja to regain her footing in the industry and deliver the much-needed box office success.
