Directed by Mani Ratnam ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ was released in multiple languages last week, and the film received an excellent response from the critics and audience as well. After taking off to a tremendous at the box office, ‘PS 2’ saw a considerable drop in the collections on the weekdays. However, the film witnessed a huge jump in the second weekend in all territories and is now rocking the weekend at the box office.
According to the trade circles, Ponniyin Selvan 2 Movies’ occupancy has slightly increased compared to its previous two days. Overall, after a normal hold on weekdays the film has picked up in the Tamil version and by today the film is set to cross the 300 Crores Gross mark. The film has become a massive jackpot for the makers.
The story of Ponniyin Selvan 2 explores the past love story between Aditha Karikalan and Nandini, how they were separated and what made Nandini to seek vengeance on Chola Kingdom. The narrative also follows Arunmozhi Varman’s rise as the renowned emperor Rajaraja Chola and what incidents follow up until his rise.
The film comprises a huge star cast that includes Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi. Ashwin Kakumanu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Lal, Rahman, Kishore and Mohan Raman are also part of the cast.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 is Produced by Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions. The music of the film is scored by AR Rahman, and the cinematography has been handled by Ravi Varman, editing by Sreekar Prasad, production design by Thotta Tharani, dialogues by Jeyamohan, costumes by Eka Lakhani, make-up by Vikram Gaikwad, and choreography by Brinda.
