Ponniyin Selvan is now top-2 at Tamil Nadu Box Office and heading towards all-time record.

Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan continues to cross new milestones with each passing weekend. The film had a terrific opening in southern states and was phenomenal in Tamil Nadu especially. While the Hindi version also performed fairly decently. And it continued to rise above the expectations on its second weekend.

According to the trade circles, Ponniyin Selvan-1 will collect Rs 25 crore in the lifetime collection of the Hindi region by looking at the current trend. The film faced Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan’s Vikram Vedha as a challenge but steamrolled over the gangster drama.

And it’s no need to say that this Periodic blockbuster has put on Tamil Nadu box office on fire. The movie had a massive second weekend and it crosses the 150Cr gross mark at the box office. Now it’s just behind Kamal Hassan’s Vikram and crossed all other movies. And it is expected to cross Vikram’s full run and become the no.1 grosser by next weekend.

Ponniyin Selvan’s rage at the box office is not going to end soon and this movie is all set to cross the 200Cr mark by next weekend, this will be the first ever film in Tamil Nadu to cross the 200 mark.

Ponniyin Selvan-1, based on Kalki’s novel, was released in theatres on September 30 in five languages — Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film stars Karthi, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, and others. The second film is expected to release next year summer.

With the rising trend of Pan-India movies, the second part of this movie is foreseen to create more records.
