Peddi North America Pre-Sales at $500K: $3M Opening in Doubt

Ram Charan‘s highly anticipated sports drama Peddi premieres in North America on June 3rd, but the advance bookings paint a concerning picture for the film’s opening day prospects.

Pre-Sales Numbers Fall Short of Expectations

The film opened bookings two weeks ago with extraordinary initial momentum, promising at least a $3 million opening day. However, the trend slowed considerably in recent days.

With just 10 days left for premieres, the current Peddi America pre-sales stand at only $500K across more than 1500 shows — significantly below the $3 million opening day target. At this pace, even a revised realistic opening of $2.5 million looks out of reach, when a minimum $3 million opening is required.

Why the Momentum Slowed Down

Industry tracking suggests the trailer of Peddi did not connect strongly with the North American Telugu audience. The promotional item song also failed to generate the expected buzz, which further impacted advance sales momentum.

The North American market is largely weekend-performance-driven, making the opening day crucial. For break-even in this territory, the film needs around $7.5 million total. To achieve that, at least a $6.5 million opening weekend is required — and for that, a minimum $3 million opening day is essential.

What the Team Needs to Do Now

The makers now need to release strong promotional content in the coming week. The “Massa Massa” song and a new action-focused trailer could help Peddi regain lost momentum before premieres.

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana (Uppena fame), Peddi marks his second directorial venture and features Ram Charan in a sports-centric role. The film needs a significant push in the final stretch to meet North America box office expectations.
