Rajinikanth’s Padayappa performed well upon its re-release at the box office and helped the theaters in Tamil Nadu to gather some considerable footfalls. Though the film did not surpass the re-release collections of Vijay’s Ghilli, it did very well.
Padayappa has collected around 13 Cr gross in Tamil Nadu, with 2 Cr gross in ROI, and 3 Cr overseas for 10 days at the box office. The total worldwide gross is 18 Cr, which is almost the closing numbers for the film.
This is the 3rd biggest collection for any South Indian rereleases after Baahubali: The Epic and Ghilli. The re-release was a blockbuster, and there were expectations that it would cross Ghilli (30 Cr+), but it failed to beat those collections.
Meanwhile, Ramya Krishnan, the actress who played the iconic character of Neelambari, watched the film on the big screen and enjoyed it.
