Wall posters are one of the most inexpensive and simple ways to bring movies to the public. For decades, wall posters were an important promotional tool in the cinema industry. Even with improvements in social media and technology, theater owners continue to rely on wall posters to promote their movies. However, the tendency is nearing an end in Hyderabad.
On Friday, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) issued a ban on unlicensed posters, wall inscriptions, cutouts, and flexis. It will apply to all public and private enterprises in the city immediately. The GHMC officials sent out public letters to everyone and warned that those who did not comply would face severe consequences.
The GHMC also arranges meetings with theater owners and printing companies to deliver the message, and the deputy commissioner has been tasked with facilitating conversations. The warning emphasizes the necessity of preserving Hyderabad’s aesthetic attractiveness by enforcing strict cleanliness standards for compound walls and public spaces.
