Diwali is one of the most important seasons for cinema in India, drawing large audiences who celebrate the holiday with family outings to theaters. This festive period often marks a major box office showdown, with top films vying for audience attention and box office success. This Diwali, several much-anticipated films created a buzz in the Nizam region, each performing distinctly based on genre, show count, and competition.
Amaran, an action-packed thriller, stood out with extraordinary success, collecting a share of Rs. 3.6 crore over the weekend. This remarkable figure translates to a 200% recovery, well surpassing expectations for its business valuation.
Another notable release, KA, a regional favorite, earned Rs. 2.9 crore in Nizam. While it achieved its breakeven target, limited show counts impacted its potential. Industry experts speculate that KA could have reached Amaran’s level if it had additional screenings in Hyderabad, particularly as it faced competition from Bagheera on its opening day, followed by Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 later in the weekend.
Meanwhile, Lucky Bhaskar, a family-oriented drama, garnered a decent Rs. 4.45 crore share in Nizam. Typically, such films achieve exceptional numbers in this region, yet Lucky Bhaskar underperformed slightly, likely due to the crowded slate. To hit its Rs. 8 crore breakeven mark, it will need consistent weekday hold.
