Rajinikanth’s Jailer (2023) did not release with sky-level buzz, but right before the release it generated decent hype and became a blockbuster afterwards. Director Nelson seems to maintain the same strategy for Jailer 2.
The promotional content for the first part of Jailer worked well, like the Kaavaalayya and Hukum songs. After release, the film surprises everyone with the content and emerges as a sensational blockbuster.
Naturally, the sequel of the film carries huge expectations, and there will definitely be pressure on the team, as the first part is a blockbuster.
Recently, Nelson spoke about Jailer 2 hype and pressure. “Let’s wait for the film’s release to see what it really offers. I’d rather avoid making big claims and raising sky-high expectations. If it doesn’t live up to them, people might dismiss it as a ‘waste.’ Better to keep expectations realistic,” he said.
This is certainly a good statement from the director, as audiences always take the statement of filmmakers according to their own expectations and create massive hype with their theories.
It looks like Nelson is scared about sky-high expectations, and he does not want to increase such hype for his film among audiences.
