Nelson achieves big success with Jailer but doesn’t gain fame

The massive success of Jailer has brought huge smiles and relief to the faces of every single Rajinikanth fan. The film shattered several existing records and became a Kollywood industry hit. Jailer was one of the grandest comebacks ever and showcased again why Rajini is the undisputed King of Kollywood.

Rajinikanth’s magnetic screen presence, Anirudh’s rocking music, and stunning cameos by Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar are being attributed major credit for the blockbuster success. Director Nelson Dileepkumar, on the other hand, hasn’t exactly received much credit or accolades for the movie. Many believed that it was a Rajini show all the way and Sueprstar’s aura and performance covered up for several screenplay loopholes and gaps, especially in the second half.

The movie had some jarring drawbacks like Sunil’s track, lack of emotional sequences, and writing in parts. One thing that Nelson really succeeded was in showing Rajini in the best possible way with Anirudh’s BGM.

In comparison, for Vikram, both Kamal Hassan and Lokesh Kanagaraj got credits and Lokesh’s craze and market both expanded. The young director was able to create one of the biggest brands in Tamil cinema and is currently the most happening and in-demand director in Kollywood. This, unfortunately, is not the case with Nelson even after delivering an industry hit.
