Director Geetu Mohandas has shared heartfelt praise for Nayanthara, calling her performance in Toxic one of the most powerful portrayals of her career, while releasing the first look of her character. The filmmaker said that while Nayanthara is already known as a celebrated star with a commanding screen presence and a career spanning over two decades, Toxic will show audiences a completely new side of her talent.
Geetu Mohandas revealed that she intended to present Nayanthara in a way she had never showcased before. As the shoot progressed, she noticed how closely Nayanthara’s own personality matched the soul of the character Ganga from Toxic. According to the director, it was not an act of imitation but a perfect alignment between the actor and the role.
She highlighted the depth, honesty, restraint, and emotional clarity Nayanthara brought to the character, stating that these were not added performances but qualities the actor already possessed. Geetu Mohandas said she found her Ganga in Nayanthara, brilliantly brought to life on screen, and also gained a dear friend in the process. She ended her note with love and admiration for the actor.
