The makers of Suriya’s Scene have dropped a big surprise ahead of the trailer. Naslen has been officially introduced as the villain in the film.
For fans who know Naslen as the lovable boy-next-door from Premalu, this is a completely unexpected turn.
“A SCENE-ic Entry”
Producers Zhagaram Studios revealed Naslen’s first look on X with the line, “A #SCENE-ic Entry! Introducing @naslenofficial as Eswaran and he’s here to turn heads!” They also shared a 45-second character teaser.
Meet Eswaran: Charming on the Surface, Menacing Underneath
Naslen plays Eswaran, the main antagonist of Scene. At first glance, he looks like a cheerful, likeable young man, with the same easy charm that made Naslen so popular in Premalu. But the teaser quickly hints that there’s something far darker beneath that smile.
In one moment, as Suriya’s character Inbaraj talks about the “faceless” enemy his team is hunting, Eswaran casually holds a lollipop, calm and almost playful. That contrast between his sweet, harmless look and his menacing side is what makes the character stand out. Jithu Madhavan seems to be using Naslen’s innocent image against the audience, turning the boy-next-door into a villain you won’t see coming.
From Premalu Hero to Suriya’s Villain
Naslen became a household name across South India with Premalu. His fun, innocent charm made the film a blockbuster in Kerala and a big hit in the Telugu states through its dubbed version.
He has also impressed in films like Thallumaala. But playing a full-fledged villain against a star like Suriya is a big leap for the young actor, and it also marks his first major Tamil role.
The Story of Scene
Suriya plays Inbaraj, a former cop. With no official team to back him, he puts together an unusual group to track down an old identity, while a highly organised rival team stands in his way. Jithu Madhavan has described it as an action comedy that families can enjoy together.
Nazriya Nazim plays the female lead, with Anandaraj, Lal and John Vijay in key roles.
The Aavesham Team Returns
Scene marks Jithu Madhavan’s Tamil debut. He’s bringing along key members of his Aavesham team, including music director Sushin Shyam and cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, whose work gave Aavesham its stylish, energetic feel.
Trailer This Weekend
The trailer for Scene arrives this weekend, on October 24 or 25. Suriya is coming off back-to-back successes with Karuppu and Vishwanath and Sons, and Scene is expected to bring back a stylish, swag-filled version of the star.
Diwali Release
Scene releases in theatres on November 6 for Diwali. It faces a crowded festival, with Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman 2, Vijay Antony’s Appa Kutty and Ramayana all arriving around the same time.
