Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju performed extremely well on the weekends, amidst decent hype and expectations. The film had the Sankranthi advantage and also had no occupancy restrictions in theatres.
But the real test started after the festival period, and Bangarraju has failed to live up to the expectations. With no other biggies releasing for Sankranthi, and a positive word of mouth from audiences the film was projected to easily cross 50 crores in share. But, the film has had a major drop after the festival period in both AP as well as Nizam.
The film was already on the downfall in Nizam during the weekends. After the festival period, the film has completely been washed out in Nizam. The overseas collections are even poorer, with bad collections from the opening day itself.
From the looks of it, Bangarraju is just a festival film and is now struggling at the box office. Nagarjuna is lucky to have got a solo release, due to which the film has made profits for exhibitors in AP.
Being a sequel to Sankranthi 2016 blockbuster Soggade Chinni Nayana, the film has failed to meet expectations. Soggade Chinni Nayana was a perfect commercial entertainer that ran for 50 days at the box office, competing with NBK and NTR.
Bangarraju also stars Naga Chaitanya, Krithi Shetty, and Ramya Krishna among others. Kalyan Krishna is the director of the movie. ZEE5 and Annapurna Studios have co-produced the film together. Anup Rubens is the music director of the movie.
