Aamir Khan’s much anticipated Forrest Gump adaptation Laal Singh Chaddha was released in theatres on 11th August. The movie opened to low numbers at the box office, with low occupancy rates in many centers. Despite an okay start, it is nowhere near Aamir’s previous films.
While the movie has been receiving mixed responses, the majority are negative. Aamir’s characterization and his acting as the young Laal did not connect with the audience. Apart from that, the major talking point about Laal Singh Chaddha has been Naga Chaitanya’s role in the film.
Naga Chaitanya plays an extended cameo in the film, where he plays Balaraju, an honest and innocent soldier who befriends Aamir. Most of his scenes involve interactions with Aamir and well the writing, is questionable.
Most of his scenes involve the usage of ‘Chaddi’ and ‘Banayan’ where Naga Chaitanya only talks about those two things. Many people have pointed out that those scenes were unbearable in theatres, while some enjoyed the humor.
But, the Telugu audiences have been trolling Naga Chaitanya for accepting such a role. Many wondered why he chose such a role in the first place. A user wrote, “I feel bad for Naga Chaitanya in Laal Singh Chadha, he reminded me of Chatur from 3 Idiots.”
