Releasing on the eve of Sankranthi, Naa Saami Ranga is a reasonable commercial success, thus putting an end to Nagarjuna’s string of box-office disasters. The film’s success can be attributed to being made on a controlled budget, tailer-made festival content, and low pre-release business. Though the action drama witnessed a big drop post-festival weekend, the opening numbers have saved the day for the buyers. ‘King’ Nagarjuna has pulled off yet another hit in the ‘Pandaga’ season after Soggade Chinni Nayana (2016) and Bangarraju (2022).
On the flip side, Naa Saami Ranga has been struggling to put on good numbers in the last seven days, implying that its theatrical run is coming to an end very soon. Having said that, the film is rumoured to be scheduled for an early digital premiere. Disney Plus Hotstar, the company that bought the film’s digital rights at a modest rate, is planning to make a digital premiere on February 15, 2024.
Though this piece of information is from a reliable source, an official announcement is yet to be made. Talking about the film, it’s an official remake of the Malayalam flick Porinju Mariam Jose (2019). Helmed by choreographer-turned-director Vijay Binni, the film stars Nagarjuna, Allari Naresh, Raj Tharun, and Ashika Ranganath. With music by ‘Academy Award’-winning music composer M. M. Keeravani, the film was reportedly made in just three months. Let’s wait and see how this rural drama performs on streaming devices.
