Mythri gave an advance to Pradeep Ranganathan immediately after Love Today’s release. After Dragon, Pradeep Ranganathan became an even bigger star. However, he had already committed to doing a film for Mythri at an earlier agreed remuneration.
Pradeep went ahead with a reasonable remuneration. It was Sai Abhayankar’s first major project and directed by debutant Keerthiswaran. Made on a modest budget of around ₹35 crore, the film had a regular love story backdrop and was completed as per the planned schedule.
The film’s digital rights were bagged by Netflix for ₹25 crore. With audio and satellite rights included, the budget was completely recovered through non-theatrical deals alone.The makers are releasing the film on their own in all territories with recoverable advances. Both Love Today and Dragon collected over ₹100 crore gross, and the team is confident that Dude will be the biggest grosser in Pradeep Ranganathan’s career.
All theatrical collections will be direct profits for the producers. In any case, the movie is expected to easily earn over ₹50 crore share, and with positive word of mouth, it could even go up to ₹75 crore—bringing massive returns for Mythri Movies.
