If the movie’s content is good, reviews are fine but stil those movies aren’t getting enough collections then there must be some problem elsewhere. Ori devuda and Urvashivo Rakshasivo are two such movies that received decent word of mouth but failed at the box office.
Ori Devuda is a remake of Tamil Oh My Kadavule. The original became a super hit which made PVP to produce it in Telugu with Vishwak Sen. The director of original Ashwin Marimuthu helmed the remake as well. However, the movie despite well-made failed miserably at the box office, disappointing the team.
The movie also had other attractions, like Victory Venkatesh’s cameo. Being a remake might be one reason why this movie hasn’t got enough reception. Moreover, it might not be the kind of movie audiences are expecting from Vishwak Sen. Reasons aren’t obvious, but good movies not getting enough money is a concern for the Industry.
Similar situation for Urvashivo Rakshasivo also bothered distributors. It is a decent romantic comedy with added attractions like Anu Emanuel glamour and Vennala Kishore comedy. However, the movie failed to collect even half of the breakeven mark.
These results are worrying since the Kannada dubbing movie Kantara has been getting decent collections even now, far better than Telugu straight films with good talk. Audiences’ attitude has significantly changed after Covid-19.
They are carefully choosing movies to be watched on big screen, otherwise they are comfortable watching them in OTT platforms. These movies are also getting released on online streaming platforms in few weeks. Hence, audiences aren’t moving to theaters unless the movie proves to be big screen entertainment or the talk is overwhelmingly good.
