The Telugu film industry and the government of Andhra Pradesh have been at loggerheads for quite some time now. The main cause of this issue is the regulation of ticket prices and shooting restrictions planned by the AP government. In addition to this, the government has been extremely selective in issuing ticket hikes for new releases that have put several Tollywood filmmakers in a spot. Megastar Chiranjeevi along with other top heroes and producers have met the AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy to resolve this issue.
Chiranjeevi, who usually maintains a diplomatic silence in lashing out at the AP government finally spoke his heart out and lashed out at the administration.
“The government should be more concerned about issues such as special status for AP, roads, infrastructure, poverty alleviation, and providing employment to the youth. Instead of addressing these issues, them targeting the film industry is quite below their stature,” said Megastar Chiranjeevi, speaking at Waltair Veerayya 200 days celebrations.
Pawan Kalyan has always been quite publically critical of YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his administration on ticket prices issue. In fact, Pawan’s films Vakeel Sahab and Bheemla Nayak were badly hit by the government’s policies on the film industry. However, very few people have openly supported his stand. Now with Chiranjeevi finally speaking up on the issue, it will be interesting to see how the government responds.
