Mani Ratnam supports Deepika Padukone’s shift timing clause

Bollywood Actress Deepika Padukone was chosen for the female lead role in Spirit starring Prabhas directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The Actress, however dropped out of the film citing creative differences. Many specualted that the Actress demanded many clauses which has an 8 hour shift work. There has already been a controversy regarding this issue with Netizens slamming the Actress for her demands.

Now, Kollywood Director, Mani Ratnam came in support of Deepika Padukone and endorsed the shift work for Actresses who have personal reasons. He said, “I think it’s nice when women ask for what they want and get what they want. It’s a very healthy sign.” He also added that the industry should accommodate such requests.

“If it doesn’t fit into your film, move on. But they should be respected for what they are asking. They are making a very fair demand, which is absolutely necessary, so we should acknowledge it and see how to live with it,” he said.

The Director has joined other celebrities like Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan who supported the shift work demand of Deepika Padukone. Recent Bollywood sensation, Tripti Dimri has been cast in the place of Deepika Padukone for Spirit. The film’s shoot will also commence soon.
