Mandaadi director Mathimaran made a comment at the film’s success meet that has not gone down well with Telugu audiences. Speaking about Suhas, he said, “Suhas was disappointed with the racist comments back home. But in TN, people love your colour, Sattai Puli is being celebrated here.”
This is not the first time such a comment has come from the Mandaadi team. At the Telugu pre release event as well, Soori spoke on similar lines about how Suhas has been treated. Two members of the same team have now made the same point, and both times, the claim has been attached to Suhas without Suhas saying this himself.
Why This Does Not Match Reality
Suhas has a clean and strong journey in Telugu cinema. He started with YouTube short films and grew step by step to become a lead hero. He has done many films as the lead actor and has earned a good name for himself in the industry. Telugu audiences have never targeted his looks or his colour at any point in his career.
In fact, Mandaadi itself is working well in Telugu mainly because of Suhas. Audiences are praising his performance and his character in the film. This makes the director’s comment look even more out of place, since the very audience being spoken about is the one celebrating Suhas right now.
Telugu fans feel that this comment is being used to build up the film’s Tamil Nadu response by putting down the Telugu audience in the same breath. Since Suhas has not made this statement on his own, fans are questioning why his name is being used this way by others from the same team.
