Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram Faces Targeted Negative Campaign

Guntur Kaaram Review - Mahesh Babu’s show

Over the last few days, there’s been a lot of negativity that’s been spread for Guntur Kaaram. Several media houses are showing a lot of unwarranted concern on issues that they never did in the past. The media houses have almost started a campaign of sorts to “save small cinema” which logically makes little sense.

Save Small Cinema Campaign

If we consider the pre-release business of the films, the Guntur Kaaram business in Telugu states is more than 105 Cr while that of all other 3 films is around Rs 55 Cr. Guntur Kaaram’s business is more than double that of the other 3 films. With the business being that huge, theatre allocation would also be in similar proportions. Despite this obvious business decision, several sections are spreading great negativity about this Trivikram film getting major theatres. It’s not like Guntur Kaaram has had complete domination in all centers. It has also faced theatre allocation issues in Andhra Pradesh and despite this, the media is portraying it as if Team Guntur Kaaram is killing small movies.

The producers and distributors are struggling to find required theatres in Andhra Pradesh. Even in Nizam, they don’t have enough theatres from 3rd day onwards like other biggies in the past. Guntur Kaaram is suffering just like other films but the media is not interested in writing about these realities and is only focussing on centers where other movies are struggling.

Complaints with Ticket Hikes

And now, a few media houses have started a negative campaign on ticket hikes as well. They are questioning why a regional film like Guntur Kaaram needs a ticket hike. This is completely agenda-based writing. For a pan-India film, the recovery can be made from other languages and there are multiple ways of achieving good business. In Telugu films, especially for the big ones, the recovery scope lies only in one language and it is extremely crucial for the film to get off to a good start. Despite the hikes, a movie will work only if the content is good and the risk still lies with the producers. Hence hikes are justified for big-budget regional films as well.

Targetted Negative Campaigns

The problem here is that a section of the media who are ultimately fixated on targeting Guntur Kaaram. They are hiding behind other movies with their negative intentions. They are targetting Dil Raju in the name of saving small cinema whereas they are least bothered about these small films. All these attempts at starting a controversy through negative campaigns about Guntur Kaaram are quite obvious and recent events are proof of the same.
