Lokesh Kanagaraj’s DC OTT Release: Prime Video Sept 4

DC, starring filmmaker-turned-actor Lokesh Kanagaraj in his acting debut, has emerged as one of 2026’s surprise successes. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the romantic action drama features Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy alongside Lokesh, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music and background score.

The film is a gritty reimagining of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Devdas, following Devadas, an outlaw who embarks on a bloody journey of revenge after losing the woman he loves. The film received largely positive reviews, with critics praising its performances, action staging, cinematography and music. It has also crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the worldwide box office, turning out to be a notable theatrical success.

DC OTT Release Date and Platforms

After its successful theatrical run, DC is now gearing up for its digital premiere. According to the latest reports, the film is set to begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Sun NXT from September 4, with both Tamil and Telugu versions expected to be available.

While Sun NXT had been identified as the film’s post-theatrical streaming partner earlier, the September 4 dual-platform release is currently being reported as the latest update. The reported date is yet to receive an official confirmation from the makers or streaming platforms, so audiences will have to wait for a formal announcement.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Upcoming Projects

For Lokesh Kanagaraj, DC marks an interesting transition from being one of Indian cinema’s most sought-after filmmakers to proving himself as a lead actor. The film’s strong performance, which saw it collect ₹66 Cr worldwide in its first week, has validated his decision to step in front of the camera.

His next major assignment takes him back behind the camera, as he is set to direct Allu Arjun in the highly anticipated film tentatively titled AA23. The project is expected to be a major pan-Indian action entertainer and will bring together two of the biggest names in contemporary Indian cinema. Lokesh Kanagaraj has also confirmed that several LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) projects remain in his plans, but his Allu Arjun film will take priority before he returns to that universe.
