Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Puri Jagannadh was a box office disappointment. The film was projected as a Pan India biggie but it bit the dust with a poor performance at the box office. Now, this has affected it’s director, Puri Jagannadh a lot. His current film, Double Ismart is gearing up for release this August 15th. Distributors and exhibitors have been demanding a compensation for Liger which is now quoted to be 6 crores.
Puri Jagannadh has earlier agreed to pay some compensation but went back on his word. This had angered the involved parties and they went on a strike. But Puri didn’t pay attention to this. Now they are making this an issue before his Double Ismart release. Now, Puri has no option but to repay some amount. It is learned that he agreed to pay around 6 crores to clear the Liger hurdles. With this, Double Ismart’s release issues have been sorted out.
Double Ismart’s all theatrical rights are bought by Prime Show Entertainments for 54 crores which is a reasonable deal. If the talk of the film helps, then the film may well go close to 100 crores. But considering the form of Puri, it looks a bit doubtful. The film is also facing a competition with Mr. Bachchan. So, let’s wait and see.
