Kuberaa Fails In Kerala

But after release, everything changed. The movie opened with positive reports in Telugu, and it exceeded expectations and is heading towards the 100 Cr mark. Whereas it shocked everyone with a low performance in Tamil Nadu. Coming to Hindi, the film has been completely rejected, as it just collected around 1.25 Cr net in 5 days, which says how low it is. Hindi audiences reject Sekhar Kammula's Kuberaa. Also, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par was released on the same day, which is the main reason audiences were not interested in this film.

Normally, strong, content-driven movies work well in Kerala, irrespective of language. However, Dhanush’s latest film, Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, fails to do well in Kerala.

Somehow when any Tamil hero joins with a Telugu director, it is not working in Kerala. Dhanush, for the first time, joined hands with a Telugu director for the movie Sir [Vaathi], which did well in all areas and collected more than 100 Cr gross worldwide.

However, in Kerala, Vaathi/Sir collected just around 1 Cr and emerged as a failure at the box office. Now, the same happened with Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa.

On its 1st weekend, the social drama collected a very huge number of 80 Cr gross worldwide. But in Kerala, the film could gather just around 75 L and did not see any jump on the weekend as well.

Kuberaa fails in Kerala, and at this pace it will close under 1.5 Cr mostly and could close its run with a number less than that.
