The Kerala Story 2 Banned? Kerala High Court Orders 2-Week Stay

The Kerala High court stays the release of The Kerala Story 2. The Kerala Story 2 Release banned Can the makers of The Kerala Story 2 win in the court? The Kerala Story 2 Controversy

The Kerala Story 2 has hit a major roadblock. The Kerala High Court ordered a two-week interim stay on the film’s release on Thursday, putting its February 27, 2026 theatrical debut in jeopardy.

Producer Plans Supreme Court Appeal

Following the court’s decision, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah is reportedly planning to approach the Supreme Court to overturn the stay and ensure the film releases as planned.

The interim stay will remain in effect for 15 days. During this period, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been directed to review the film’s certification and examine concerns raised in multiple petitions.

What Are the Petitioners Claiming?

The petitioners have argued that the film allegedly misrepresents Kerala and could disturb communal harmony. The producers, led by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, maintain that The Kerala Story 2 is based on researched facts.

The makers are now considering legal options, including challenging the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court.

History Repeating Itself

This isn’t the first time the franchise has faced legal challenges. The first part of the film, released in 2023, also faced similar issues with the Kerala government and public protests.
