Kantara prequel Kantara2 is confirmed – Rishabh is writing the story

The news about Kantara sequel has been doing rounds since its massive success and according to the latest reports, we hear that Rishab Shetty will indeed make Kantara 2, but it is not a sequel but a prequel. Hombale Films founder Vijay Kirgandur, in an interaction with the media, revealed that Rishab Shetty has already started working on the script.

Kantara 2 is a prequel which will explore the relationship between the villagers, the immortal and the troubled king. The king had agreed with the divinity to protect the villagers and the surrounding land, but things didn’t turn out as they had to because of the king’s grandson’s greediness. The man versus nature battle is the main essence of the film.

Vijay Kirgandur said that they have plans to shoot in June, as a portion of the shoot requires the rainy season, and they intend to give the film a pan-India release in April or May next year.

Currently, Rishab Shetty has gone to the forests in the coastal region in Karnataka and is doing a two-month recce to understand more about the folklore which he has shown in his film Kantara.

Kantara was made on a budget of Rs 16 crore and grossed over Rs 400 crore at the worldwide box office. The fame of this movie had stunned Rishab Shetty and the Kannada Industry.

Kantara was dropped in Kannada as a small film and when it became a massive success, they released it in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu. This film is an action-thriller which is rooted in Karnataka folklore and is written and directed by Rishab Shetty himself. Kantara also starred Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda and Pramod Shetty in pivotal roles.
