Kantara Chapter 1, the spiritual drama directed and led by Rishab Shetty, had a strong weekend in India, grossing around 265 crore. However, its overseas performance fell short of expectations, delivering disappointing numbers.
It is a matter of concern, as the movie was not released by the makers on their own, and the buyers invested significant amounts expecting Kantara Chapter 1 to perform exceptionally well at the overseas box office.
Kantara Chapter 1 Overseas Box Office: Disappointing Weekend – Needs to have a long run to
Yash and Prashant Neel’s KGF 2 collected 27 million overseas, whereas Kantara Chapter 1’s overseas breakeven business is around 15 million.
Everyone thought it would be easily achievable, but the film has a very low start; even though the weekend sees some good momentum, still the weekend sees dull collections overall.
Kantara Prequel’s first weekend overseas collections are at 6.2 million, and for the breakeven value, it is just a 40% recovery, which is a serious concern for the film’s box office result, as the first weekend’s recovery always should be more than 75% of breakeven rights overseas.
Kantara Chapter 1 needs to perform exceptionally well at the overseas box office starting today to approach its breakeven point. Without strong momentum, buyers might face significant losses.
