Kantara Chapter 1, the blockbuster franchise film by Rishab Shetty released in theaters on 2nd October, collected over 225 Cr gross for 3 days, which is a superb number, but the makers pay the price for minimal promotions.

For a normal pan-India biggie, getting 200 Cr gross number in three days is huge. But for a blockbuster franchise film, which has the potential to collect huge numbers in all 5 languages like KGF 2, Pushpa 2, and Baahubali 2, these numbers are a bit underwhelming.

The main reason for the decline is the team of Kantara took the audiences for granted and did not put big efforts on promotions. Usually, for a pan-India film like this, several promotional videos are released, but the Hombale team chose to release only one trailer.

The trailer cut came across as very plain, dampening the curiosity around the film. The songs were unknown to the audience before release, which further hurt the buzz. Additionally, the team missed out on organizing big events for other languages and didn’t consistently invest time in promotions.

The makers of Kantara Chapter 1 did minimal promotions, which cost the film’s box office potential. They need to understand that not only does the content pull audiences, but there should be the right amount of anticipation for the film as well.

If the film releases with massive buzz and opens with positive reports, then collections will be at a different level. But the team of Rishab Shetty’s directorial is not doing any promotions even after the release.

They can put on some success meets or press meets, but nothing has happened till now. Because of this low buzz, only the film moved out of the 1000 Cr club, costing crores of revenue loss for the makers despite positive WOM.
