Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film, Thug Life shoot is happening at a brisk pace. The film also stars Simbu and Trisha playing pivotal roles. The film was originally planned to arrive this year on Diwali but now stands postponed to next year. Thug Life will release in the Sankranthi season next year as confirmed by the makers.
Ajith starrer, Good Bad Ugly was also confirmed as a Sankranthi release as of now. This will be a good season as it can accommodate two or more films. Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam are uniting for a film after 37 years. Their last film was Nayakan which was a blockbuster and also earned a National Award for Kamal Haasan. Now, there will be a natural excitement from fans and audiences.
Mani Ratnam recently tasted success with his Ponniyin Selvan series. The series became big hit in Tamil but flopped in all the other languages. So, the Sankranthi season may work out well for Thug Life in Tamil but it will be difficult for it to find theatres in Telugu States as Sankranthi Season will mostly be occupied by Telugu films. Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara has already been confirmed. Many other Telugu films will also eye the season so Thug Life has to release on some other date.
