For a few days, the controversy around the release of Tamil Star Hero, Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan has kept the Tamil Cinema fans triggered, and the producer of the film, Venkata Narayana, releases a video statement about the certification troubles.
Venkata Narayana, producer of Jana Nayagan, expressed gratitude to fans for their anticipation and support amid the film’s release delays. He noted the overwhelming messages received, emphasizing the film’s popularity, while respecting that the matter is sub judice.
According to the producer, the film was submitted to CBFC on December 18, 2025, and after review, an email on December 22 indicated a UA 16+ certificate with minor changes. These were incorporated and resubmitted, but formal certification was pending.
Days before the planned release, on January 5, 2026, it was referred to a Revising Committee due to a complaint. The team approached the High Court, which after the hearings on January 6th and 7th, directed issuance of the certificate today, but CBFC obtained an interim stay.
The producer, at the end of the video, apologized to audiences, distributors, and stakeholders, highlighting the emotional toll on the team, and stressed faith in the judicial process and hoped for a swift release, especially as it’s Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film.
