Jana Nayagan Faces 550 Cr Break-Even Target

Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan, is set to release in theatres on January 9, and the recently released theatrical trailer has enthralled fans. Coming to the box office prospects, Jana Nayagan needs to collect ₹550 crore worldwide gross to achieve the break-even point.

Despite being a remake, the film has done massive business mainly due to Vijay’s strong star power. In Tamil Nadu, the theatrical rights were sold for a record price of ₹105 crore. Overseas rights stand at ₹78 crore, making it the second-biggest overseas deal after Coolie. The Kerala rights are valued at ₹15 crore. 

In the Telugu states, Karnataka, and North India, the film is being released on an own-release basis, and these regions are valued at around ₹30 crore.

With all this, the total theatrical business of Jana Nayagan is close to ₹230 crore, and to achieve break-even, the film needs to collect at least ₹550 crore gross worldwide. So far, only Leo has crossed the ₹550 crore mark among Vijay’s films, making this target very important for Jana Nayagan.

In Kollywood, only 2.0, Jailer, and Leo have collected more than ₹550 crore worldwide. Jana Nayagan now needs to join this elite list.
