Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated film Jana Nayagan continues to face censor hurdles, with the latest update confirming the movie has been sent to the Revising Committee in Mumbai.
Originally scheduled for a January 9 release, Jana Nayagan has been delayed due to unresolved certification issues with the CBFC. Fans are eagerly awaiting the film, especially since it marks Vijay’s final theatrical release before his political career.
Film Sent to Mumbai Revising Committee
The latest development confirms that Jana Nayagan has now moved to the Revising Committee in Mumbai for further review. The Chennai CBFC is no longer handling this stage of the certification process.
The review is expected to take some time, with KVN Productions awaiting an official decision from the committee. Sources suggest the censor process could potentially wrap up next week, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
February 27 Release No Longer Possible
With the censor clearance still pending, the previously planned February 27 theatrical release has been completely ruled out.
Trade circles are now speculating that June 19 — Thalapathy Vijay’s birthday — could emerge as the new target release date. This would position the film for release after the upcoming elections, aligning with Vijay’s transition into politics.
An official announcement regarding the final release date from the production house is still awaited.
