Jailer 2 Runtime Locked at 2 Hours 43 Minutes, Shorter Than Jailer and Coolie

Jailer 2 completes the censor formalities

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has locked its final runtime ahead of its October 15 release. The film runs for 2 hours 43 minutes and 51 seconds, a little shorter than the first Jailer.

Jailer 2 Runtime Breakdown

  • 1st Half: 1 hour 24 minutes 38 seconds
  • 2nd Half: 1 hour 19 minutes 13 seconds
  • Total Runtime: 2 hours 43 minutes 51 seconds

The first half is around five minutes longer than the second half, which suggests Nelson Dilipkumar has kept the second half tighter and faster. For a mass entertainer, a crisp second half is often what decides the final audience response, so this is a positive sign.

Shorter Than Jailer and Coolie

At just under 2 hours 44 minutes, Jailer 2 is slightly shorter than the first Jailer, which ran for around 2 hours 48 minutes. It is also shorter than Rajinikanth’s last release Coolie, which ran for around 2 hours 50 minutes.

A runtime close to 2 hours 45 minutes is standard for big star films today, and it gives theatres room for a healthy number of shows per day, which matters for a big opening.

Censor Done, All Set for Release

Jailer 2 has already completed its censor formalities with a U/A certificate. The film releases worldwide on October 15, with Overseas premieres on October 14. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the film brings back Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty joining the cast. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.

With the runtime locked, the focus now shifts to advance bookings over the final days before release. As of Now Worldwide advance bookings are at 40 Cr range for opening day.
