Is Thaman Losing His Crown?

Thaman is undoubtedly the number one music director for Tollywood, with a record number of films in his lineup, but now he is facing a bit of criticism for his work continuously, making him fall behind other music directors.

If we look at recent songs from Telugu Cinema, Bheems delivers a chartbuster song, Meesala Pilla, for Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu, and the song is now heading towards 100 million views.

A.R. Rahman delivered a chart-topping hit with “Chikiri Chikiri” from Peddi, already surpassing 100 million views. Keeravani’s “Globetrotter” theme, Rana Kumbha theme, and BGM for the Varanasi introduction also garnered widespread acclaim. These musical contributions significantly boosted the film’s buzz and positive reception.

Regarding Thaman’s recent work, he hasn’t received unanimous praise. His two songs from “Akhanda 2,” as well as the background score for the film’s trailer, haven’t met expectations.

Also, yesterday, the highly anticipated first single, “Rebel Saab,” from “The Raja Saab,” was released, and it received a mixed response. As “Akhanda 2” and “The Raja Saab” are very big-budget pan-Indian films, a mixed reaction is definitely not ideal.

There have been ongoing complaints about Thaman’s sound and mixing in recent songs and BGM, and he needs to address this feedback to regain his top position in Tollywood before the situation deteriorates further.
