Indian 2, latest film of Legendary Actor Kamal Haasan and Director Shankar completed all the formalities and getting ready for the release. The release is scheduled for July 12th worldwide this weekend. The film’s pre release event has happened recently and the advance bookings in the overseas market have started. The overseas advance bookings indicate a weak opening for Indian 2.
Overseas market is a big market for Tamil films. Indian 2 which has Shankar branding and Kamal Haasan as the lead actor didn’t generate the necessary buzz. The poor promotional content of the film has become the major reason for this. In North America alone, the film has made an advance bookings of $ 350K till now and $300K from the other countries. Total advance bookings will stand at just $650K .
Usually Tamil biggies open with a minimum of $4 Million and Leo starring Vijay opened with $8 Million last year. But looking at Indian 2 trend the advance booking may not even touch $3 Million. The team must increase the buzz more by releasing promos and a new trailer. The team is busy with interviews but it is not enough. The film also has a third part, Indian 3 in the line up. So Indian 2 must perform well.
