Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan was directed by Shankar. The film carried many expectations but couldn’t succeed and became a big disaster. Indian 2’s box office performance was expected to be around 1000 crores worldwide but in reality, it made only 150 crores. This is utterly shocking.
Till few years, Kollywood remained as the biggest film Industry from South. But SS Rajamouli changed this trend by putting Tollywood on top and delivered the first 1000 crore grosser with Baahubali 2. After few years, Kannada Film Industry delivered another 1000 crore with KGF Chapter 2. Kollywood didn’t succeed in pulling this task off. Their much talked, Ponniyin Selvan couldn’t manage to reach even 500 crore gross worldwide. They hoped that Indian 2 would fulfill this but it didn’t happen.
Indian 2 grossed only around 150 crores worldwide. This is a big shocker not only to Kollywood but also for Indian cinema fans. No one expected this type of mediocre quality from Shankar who was known for making fine content films. This is Shankar’s first embarrassing disaster in his entire career. He now has to take up Indian 3 forcibly to end the Indian series. But no one knows how he will manage to make this happen with this much of losses.
