Huge Demand for Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana in Kerala!

Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana's opened with around $3.6M in North America.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana has delivered an unexpected box office performance in Kerala, surprising trade analysts and industry observers. The mythological epic was initially expected to perform well in Hindi, Kannada and Telugu markets, with its promotional campaign largely overlooking Kerala. However, the film has managed to attract considerable audiences in the state, registering a gross collection of Rs. 3 crore on its opening day. It followed that up with another Rs. 2.15 crore on day two.

The biggest surprise came on the third day, when the film’s tracked gross collection reportedly surpassed its opening-day numbers by the afternoon. The film is facing capacity constraints in Kerala, with available screenings struggling to accommodate audience demand. Advance bookings for the following day have also been encouraging, indicating that the film’s momentum could continue.

The unexpected response has prompted trade pundits to believe that the film could have achieved even bigger numbers with a stronger promotional campaign in Kerala. Yash’s presence is also believed to be contributing to its popularity in the region. The film’s performance has therefore emerged as a significant talking point, particularly given the limited attention it received during its promotional campaign in the state.
