Story: Near the outskirts of Hyderabad, the Police find two dead bodies and later they get to know the details of those dead people named Vishal Pasupuleti and Swathi. Police Officer Archana Prasad (Ruhani Sharma), who is back from her six-month suspension, is assigned to solve the case. Very soon, Archana finds out more details about Vishal and Swathi’s Personal lives. The weapon used to murder Swathi and Vishal has a personal connection with Archana. What is it? Who killed Vishal and Swathi? Did Archana solve the murder mystery? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis: Director Sreedhar Swaraghav does not waste much time and gets into the story right from the starting point. Though he follows the set pattern of investigative thrillers, the proceedings lack the required excitement or intrigue. However the interval block is well-designed, and it generates curiosity about the second half. As said above, the investigative parts are routine and stale, not creating excitement. While the second half consists of a few sequences which look captivating, the final moments fail to deliver a strong punch.

Moreover, the exact reason why murders are committed is something that disappoints greatly, and adding to that the way it is revealed is another weak link. The movie doesn’t have proper emotional backing as the love track that features Ruhani and Vikas Vashista is very ordinary. The romance track could have been more accurately depicted to give the film the emotional depth it needed.  Despite having a sequel, the first part of this movie fails to generate enough interest to wait for the second installment. Her Chapter 1’s antagonist is also not well-portrayed, and the actor who did that character was not suited well to it.

Performances: Ruhani Sharma was very good and she showed what she can do if she is given an opportunity to lead a film. The Other actors such as Vikas Vashista, Sanjay Swaroop, Pradeep Rudra, Vinod Varma, and Ravi Varma were ok while Jeevan made his presence felt due to a few funny dialogues.

Plus Points:

  • Ruhani Sharma’s Performance
  • Interval Episode
  • Few gripping scenes in second half

Minus Points:

  • Routine story
  • Lifeless romance track
  • Climax

Verdict:

Her Chapter 1 aims to be a proper investigative thriller and it does succeed in parts. Though the predictability in the narration and an underwhelming finale are minus points of the movie, the honest performance of Ruhani Sharma and a few well handled twists and sequences work well for the movie. One can watch the movie with fewer expectations.
