GV Prakash, the renowned music director and actor of South Indian cinema, took a big risk with his latest movie, Kingston. In the film, he plays the lead hero, and he is also the producer of the movie. The movie was released yesterday in both Telugu and Tamil. Sadly, the film is on the way to becoming a big failure, and GV Prakash will face crores in losses.
Kingston: A Big Loss Venture for GV Prakash
Made as a sea adventure thriller, the film failed to open with good numbers in both Telugu and Tamil. The movie is said to have been made with a very high budget. Theatrically, it needs to generate big numbers, but given the poor opening and reviews, the recovery seems difficult.
The surprising thing is that Kingston could not even open with a 1 Cr start at the box office, which says how disastrous a start it is, and recovering from here is also not possible. Theatrically, the film will not return anything as expenses are not recovered.
GV Prakash will face crores in losses, as the film has been made with a big budget, and the theatrical returns are much needed. ZEE Studios is also one of the producers for this film. Let’s hope that the film finds some relief with the OTT deal.
