GV Prakash Gets Ramayana Call, A Surprise From AR Rahman Makes It Even More Special

It’s a big moment for composer GV Prakash Kumar. The National Award winner has recorded a song for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, one of the biggest Indian films ever made.

And the moment came with a special personal touch. While GV was returning from Ayodhya, he got a surprise call from the legendary AR Rahman.

From Ayodhya to Ramayana

The timing couldn’t have been more fitting. GV Prakash was on his way back from Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, when he got to be part of the grand world of Ramayana.

For any musician, being part of a film based on the Ramayana is a dream. For GV, the Ayodhya connection made it even more meaningful.

The AR Rahman Connection

Ramayana’s music is being composed by AR Rahman along with Hollywood legend Hans Zimmer. So the surprise call from Rahman was a big moment for GV.

There’s a family bond here too. GV Prakash is AR Rahman’s nephew. He started his music journey as a child singer under Rahman, and now he gets to be part of one of his uncle’s biggest projects.

GV Prakash’s Journey

GV Prakash has come a long way. He made his debut as a music director with Veyil in 2006 and went on to compose for hits like Aadukalam, Asuran and Soorarai Pottru. He won the National Award for Best Background Score for Soorarai Pottru.

He has also built a career as an actor in Tamil cinema. Being part of Ramayana adds a big new chapter to his journey.

All About Ramayana

Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The film releases in theatres on November 5 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and other languages.

The film is already making waves in the USA, with premiere pre-sales crossing $226K weeks before release.
