It is very well known to everyone that Director Gunasekhar and Samantha’s Shaakuntalam was released last week amid massive expectations, but the film disappointed everyone and became a big box office failure. Shaakuntalam not only failed to impress the audience, but it also made Gunasekhar collapse.
Gunasekhar not only put his 100% efforts into the movie, but he also put his own money in this film. Dil Raju is the co-producer of this film, but the highest share in the budget is said to be of Gunasekhar’s only. The budget of Shaakuntalam had gone out of hands and Gunasekhar thought that he can get the returns through the theatricals, but the film became a miserable failure at the box office. With Shaakuntalam’s disastrous result, Gunasekhar is now collapsed, both personally and financially.
Made on a massive budget, Shaakuntalam is based on the internationally acclaimed Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play ‘Abhijnana Shaakuntalam’ and was released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. The film, which also has been released in 3D, was presented by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations together with Gunaa Team works and produced by Neelima Guna.
Guna Sekhar directed Samantha’s Shaakuntalam. Dev Mohan played King Dushyant’s role in this flick, while Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha appeared as Prince Bharata. Aditi Balan, Prakash Raj, Gauthami, Madhu Bala, Sachin Khedekar, Mohan Babu and Ananya Nagalla appeared in crucial roles. Mani Sharma composed the tunes for this film.
