Garividi Lakshmi has locked October 17 as its release date, joining the packed Dasara window alongside Jailer 2 and Ranabaali.
True to its folk theme, the makers announced the date through a traditional street performance style video, complete with harmonium music and comedic banter, rather than a regular poster drop. The playful promo fits perfectly with the film’s own rural, Burra Katha inspired world.
Garividi Lakshmi stars Anandhi in the title role, playing a character inspired by the real life Burra Katha artist Garividi Lakshmi. Directed by Gowri Naidu Jammu and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under People Media Factory, the film is described as a heartfelt tribute to rural life and musical tradition, set against the backdrop of Uttar Andhra. Music is composed by Charan Arjun, and the film had already drawn attention earlier with its folk song Nala Jilakara Mogga, which crossed 4 million views on YouTube.
With this release date, Garividi Lakshmi now enters direct competition with two major films arriving in the same window, Jailer 2 on October 15 and Ranabaali on October 16. Going up against two massive star vehicles, the film will be relying on its distinct rural charm and content driven appeal to carve out its own space rather than compete on scale.
