FWICE Clarifies: Ranveer Singh Not Banned Over Don 3

A fresh controversy erupted around Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and the much-awaited Don 3 after reports claimed the actor had been “banned” by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). However, FWICE has now officially clarified that the Ranveer Singh Don 3 controversy has been widely misunderstood.

What Triggered the Controversy

The dispute began when Ranveer Singh abruptly exited Don 3 just three weeks before the film’s unit was scheduled to leave for shooting. Producer Farhan Akhtar and his production house Excel Entertainment filed a complaint with FWICE, claiming they had already invested approximately ₹45 Crore in pre-production.

According to reports, FWICE sent three notices and three reminders to the actor over several weeks, but received no response. This led to speculation that the actor was facing a complete industry ban.

FWICE’s Clarification: Not a Ban

FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit clarified on social media that reports describing the move as a “ban” are incorrect and misleading. The organization has only issued a “non-cooperation directive” in connection with the Ranveer Singh Don 3 controversy.

The directive advises FWICE members against working with the actor, but the final decision still rests with individual members. This is significantly different from an outright ban, which would prohibit all industry workers from collaborating with him.

The Difference Between Ban and Directive

A ban would mean Ranveer Singh is officially barred from working in the industry, with no exceptions. A non-cooperation directive, on the other hand, is an advisory that allows members to make their own choices.

FWICE’s clarification has now shifted the narrative. Earlier social media discussions suggested the actor was completely blocked from Bollywood projects, but the organization’s latest statement makes it clear that collaborations remain possible.

Ranveer’s Response and What’s Next

Ranveer Singh has maintained that professional matters should be handled with dignity and mutual respect. The actor’s team reportedly argued that FWICE was not the appropriate forum for contractual disputes between producers and actors.

This isn’t the first time Ranveer Singh has faced industry controversy. Earlier this year, the actor was involved in a controversy surrounding Kantara, which required him to issue a formal apology.

With FWICE’s clarification now on record, all eyes are on how the situation unfolds and whether it will impact future projects for the actor. As for Don 3, the production is reportedly looking at other casting options following Ranveer Singh’s exit.
