From wooden face to star performer, Charan won hearts of Hindi audience

RRR has not only created a storm at the box office but has also earned Tarak and Charan a heap of accolades and love from all over the country. The total RRR opening day collections stand at Rs 223 crores which is the highest ever in Indian film history. RRR has got off to an outstanding start and the trend is expected to continue over the weekend as well.

However, the most heartening thing is the way the Hindi audience has lapped up the performance of Tarak as Bheem and Charan as Alluri Seeta Rama Raju. This is a massive redemption for Charan, in particular, especially the way he was trolled a few years back by the same audience.

In 2013, he made his Bollywood debut with Zanjeer which was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s cult classic with the same name. Zanjeer failed at the box office and Charan was trolled mercilessly by critics as well as the audience. Many critics termed him as a ‘wooden face’ actor who can’t emote on screen.

Charan was already an established star in Telugu and had delivered Industry Hit like Magadheera among other successful films. However, the Hindi audience didn’t warm up to him at all.

Cut to 2022, Charan is winning the hearts of the audience all over and the same people who trolled him are showering love on him. Interestingly, he played a police officer in both Zanjeer and RRR.

Over the years, the Mega Power Star has matured a lot as a performer and Rangasthalam was a testimony of that. And it was just a matter of time before he won the hearts of all his detractors. With his film with Shankar up for release next, he is surely going to establish himself as a pan-India star in the coming days.
