Dear Comrade (2019) was a romantic drama film starring Vijay Devarakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. Written and directed by debutant Bharat Kamma, the film carried tremendous hype since it starred the duo after the blockbuster Geetha Govindam (2018).
Upon release, the film received mixed-to-negative reviews, with many criticizing its slow pace; however, the performances of the cast, the chemistry between the duo, and Justin Prabhakaran’s music received applause. Despite posting good opening numbers, Dear Comrade underperformed at the box office and ended as a failure.
But over the years, the film received some cult following and emerged as a fan favorite for audiences across languages. Just like Ram Charan’s Orange (2010), Dear Comrade too falls in the list of underrated classics. The film is also notable since it marked the last feature film appearance of Vijay & Rashmika.
