Film Chamber Clears Peddi Release, Ends Rental System July 3

The Telangana State Film Chamber has issued a fresh notice clearing the path for Ram Charan‘s Peddi release, while announcing a major shift in the theatre business model. The Film Chamber’s notice on Peddi resolves weeks of negotiations between producers and exhibitors over the rental versus percentage-sharing dispute.

Chiranjeevi’s Assurance Secures Peddi Release

The latest Film Chamber press note confirms that Telangana exhibitors have agreed to cooperate for Peddi‘s release following assurances from Megastar Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi personally assured exhibitors that he would closely monitor the sub-committee meetings formed to finalize the proposed percentage-based revenue sharing system.

The ongoing theatre rental dispute between producers and single-screen exhibitors had threatened to disrupt major releases across Telangana. With the Megastar’s intervention, exhibitors have agreed to follow the existing rental arrangement for Peddi‘s theatrical run, ensuring a smooth release for Ram Charan‘s much-awaited film.

Sub-Committee to Finalize Percentage Model by June 30

According to the notice, the sub-committee formed by the Executive Committee of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce is expected to complete discussions and finalize the new percentage-based system by June 30, 2026. The sub-committee is tasked with working out a revenue-sharing formula that ensures viability for both producers and exhibitors.

Rental System Ends from July 3, 2026

The Film Chamber made a landmark announcement regarding the future of theatrical releases in Telangana. As per the official notice on Peddi and future releases, the rental system will completely end from July 3, 2026. From that date onwards, all films releasing in Telangana will be screened exclusively under the percentage-sharing model.

This transition marks a significant shift in how theatrical business operates in the state. The percentage model is expected to provide better sustainability for single-screen theatres while offering flexibility to producers and distributors based on a film’s actual performance.

The latest notice has brought temporary relief to the Telugu film industry and ensured that Peddi can proceed with its scheduled June 4, 2026 release without disruption.
