Puri Jagannadh’s Double Ismart starring Ram is undoubtedly one of the biggest disasters in TFI. Despite this massive failure, the industry buzz is that producers are in a safe position as the movie did a pretty solid pre-release business. Theatrical rights bought by Hanuman producers for 54 Cr. The South Indian language’s digital rights were bought by Prime Video for more than 30 Cr.
Even the audio rights also fetched a big amount due to the success of Ismart Shankar’s musical success. The satellite rights have been acquired by Zee Group and even the Hindi dubbing rights and digital rights have also fetched some good numbers. So even if the movie budget is more than 100 Cr, it’s still a safe venture for producers.
According to industry circles, this is exactly what happened even during the release of Liger. Although Liger was massive disaster theatrically, it did tremendous business thanks to the craze of Vijay Deverakonda and the Puri and co. were in a safe position.
At the moment, it’s Hanuman producers and buyers who have lost 40 Cr. It needs to be seen how much Puri Connects compensates for this. As per industry circles, Puri Connects is in safe position but Puri Connects insiders are saying both Liger and Double Ismart were made with huge star cast and massive budget, so even Puri and co. are facing big losses
