The Diwali weekend saw the release of three much-awaited films. While two films Jigarthanda Double X and Japan were from Kollywood. Bollywood Spy Universe’s high-budget action entertainer Tiger 3 was the third film to hit the screens. Surprisingly, none of these films managed to set the box office on fire.
Japan received mostly negative reviews while Jigarthanda Double X fared comparatively better in terms of audience feedback and reviews. Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 also was also not so favoured by critics and audiences despite solid opening numbers owing to the franchise’s craze and his stardom.
Japan opened with good noon shows on day 1 but saw a drop as word of mouth was bad and it never picked up even on Diwali weekend. Jigarthanda Double X opened on a poor note but positive talk was expected to pull the movie up on the weekend. However, the film maintained low collections and it was definitely a shock for many as usually Lawrence’s films work well in Telugu.
Tiger 3 Hindi version performed quite well, especially in Hyderabad where it managed to deliver good numbers. However, the Telugu version did not work well for buyers overall. It was a very disappointing Diwali weekend for buyers as no movie managed at least a couple of days of good run so far.
