Dhurandhar Team Rejects Award, Receives Fan Support

Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar received a sensational response from audiences and went on to become a massive blockbuster at the box office. But the film also faced criticism from a section of Bollywood reviewers. Now, the team of Dhurandhar has reportedly rejected an award from The Hollywood Reporter India, the same magazine that had earlier given the film a negative review.

Last December, the magazine’s review of the Ranveer Singh-starrer went viral on social media. Many netizens criticized both the reviewer and the publication for their unfavorable rating of the film.

Recently, at The Hollywood Reporter India’s awards event, Dhurandhar was announced as one of the special awardees, but none of the film’s team members attended the ceremony to receive the award.

A video from the event has since gone viral. In the clip, host Neha Dhupia says, “Tonight we also have special honours for the blockbuster of the year. This goes to a film that shattered the box office by earning over ₹1200 crore globally and has completed 76 days in theatres as of today. A rare feat in today’s times and a true testament to its popularity. We honour the team of Dhurandhar for their spectacular work.”

The absence of the film’s team at the event has now sparked fresh discussions across social media, with many supporting them for not coming to the event.

The Hollywood Reporter India is the official Indian edition of the American entertainment trade publication, launched in 2024 by RPSG Lifestyle Media under a licensing agreement with Penske Media Corporation.
