Dhanush’s SIR movie, which has been released as Vaathi in Tamil was released in theatres on February 17th in theatres and has opened to decent word of mouth from the audiences. The film already created a positive buzz with the premiere screenings and now with the mostly positive talk after release, the film has opened big.
SIR opened with more than 5 crores at the box office in gross collections on Day 1, which is a sensational start. And with the Sivaratri advantage on Day 2, the film has collected more than the opening day numbers in all territories. When a film collects more on Day 2 than on Day 1 at the box office, it is always a positive sign for the film.
The theatrical business of SIR is valued at just 5 crores in the Telugu states. This means that the film has already crossed this mark quite comfortably. After achieving the breakeven status, it is now heading toward blockbuster status. Dhanush seems to be in good form at the moment with movies like Thiru and SIR doing very well in the Telugu states. In fact, the opening collections of SIR have beaten Vijay’s Vaarasadu.
Apart from Dhanush, Sir also stars Samyukta Menon, Samuthirakani, Hyper Aadi, and Sai Kumar among others. Sir has been written and directed by Venky Atluri and produced by Sithara Entertainments. The music is by GV Prakash.
