Devara starring NTR had a very good run at the box office. Devara’s Telugu version held very good in 2nd week after excellent 1st week. But in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the film didn’t put big numbers in the 1st week itself and the 2nd week has also reported same low numbers. Devara’s Hindi version too has struggled in the 2nd week.
Devara actually opened well in Hindi in the 1st week with 43 crore Nett. With this opening, everyone expected that the film will reach the 100 crore club there just like Pushpa. But in the 2nd week, as said above, the film didn’t trend like Pushpa, KGF 1 and Kantara. These films showed tremendous performance and hold in 2nd week in Hindi markets. But Devara witnessed a massive drop and collected just around 12 crore Nett. This takes the total 2 weeks Nett to 55 crore and closing is also expected to be in the range of 65 crore Nett.
The film was expected to collect more than in the lines of Pushpa, KGF and Kantara by the makers and NTR. But it may end up less than Kantara which grossed 84 crores. The long run is needed for multi-part films. This doesn’t look like happening to Devara. Nevertheless, it has put a decent performance overall in Hindi market. The makers can only hope the film to do better on OTT to raise expectations for Devara 2.
